| My Dog Caleb Richard V. Milner Feb 03, 2003 |
The day after my close encounter with Dennis, the street sweeper and me. The Lord gave me a little puppy and we named him Caleb. Well at first we didn't know what to name him, so I prayed what to call him and the Lord said to call him what the Hebrew word was for dog. It came out to be "kelev" but the English translation was "Caleb". There has been some dispute in what kelev means so we call him Caleb regardless what the meaning. Over the next few weeks, I will be writing to you on the events with my dog. The Lord has shown me a few things that I am going to learn through Caleb. And actually I have already learned a few things. The other day, I was walking up to my father in law's house and I was trying to get Caleb to follow me. Well as I got farther away from Caleb, the more disinterested I got as the dog just laid there and watched me walk away. It is about 200 feet away from where I started to turn the corner that I turned one more time and I saw Caleb running fast to catch me. You know this is how the Lord is from time to time. He is trying to lead me down a path and I am comfortable where I am. Here I am laying around playing with my ball and rope and sticks as I see the Father or hear Him calling me to come this way or go that way. And what do I do, just sit there as He leaves. Well when He starts in another direction with my life and I stay, it is said that He starts pulling away and actually you are the one pulling away. Actually it is disobedience that is occurring. But once He turns that corner, and I can't see Him anymore (desert like conditions) I start running after Him. Once Caleb caught up with me and realized that there was more to just going with me, he was a happy little dog. There was my attention towards him, and food, and kittens to chase. Caleb had it made. That is the same way with me. Once I race after Dad to catch up with what He wanted me to do, I was in total Heaven. He was playing with me, feeding me, and I had little kittens to chase. This is called (Seeking His Face). So am I the only one that has to have Him turn the corner before I take off? I have been learning this for a long time. When He calls, drop what you are doing and seek Him no matter where you are. There is nothing nowhere that is more important than dropping what your doing and seeking Him. Pastors if you see the Lord turning the corner, you need to stop also and seek Him even if you are in the middle of a service. It may be for a minute or it may be for days, trust me it won't be discomforting to you. You won't even no what you are missing. This whole story is about obedience toward Him. When He calls, jump! When He says jump. Ask how high after you leave the ground. The faith will increase as your obedience is in motions. BE Blessed! Richard |
